Cylisticus convexus is an easy-to-keep, prolific isopod that can prove to be an excellent beginner species for those interested in the isopod husbandry hobby. With subtle patterning and slight color variations, they can sometimes be easily mistaken for another species, especially if found in the wild among Armadillidiums. However, they’re unique in that they do not fold in their antennae when conglobating (rolling up into a ball), and have a slight teardrop shape, hence another name they go by; the “Teardrop Isopod”.
