Vantablack Wolf Spider (Tigrosa helluo) - a hefty native wolf spider (the Wetland Giant Wolf Spider) shown here in its striking extra-dark melanistic morph, deep glossy black instead of the usual mottled brown-and-tan. Not medically significant, but a fast, alert hands-off predator. Care basics: give floor space and a rock/board hide over a burrow start, keep a small moisture corner in otherwise drier substrate, feed appropriately sized prey no larger than the spider can safely overpower, do not cohabitate. Keeper notes: fast hunter that can bolt when the lid opens, bite is not medically significant but still hands-off, single housing only, digs a burrow rather than building a web.
